Summary:
Hawaii has no native amphibians or land reptiles, and only one land mammal (the Hawaiian hoary bat), 6 species of native non-marine fishes, and 57 species of native land birds. Introduced species include pigs, cattle, goats, sheep, horses, rats, mongoose, etc. They destroy native plants, bird habitat, and watersheds. Introduced species management requires long-term commitment of funds and personnel.
