Dr. Kuiper wrote about the conference he attended in Maui and discussions with Dr. Hiatt and Dr. Woollard. There was a meeting in Washington on Feb. 12 attended by NASA officials, Drs. Hiatt and Woollard, Nick Mayall (KPNO), and Dr. Kuiper. The Hawaii's proposal was endorsed by Dr. Kuiper and Dr. Mayall. Both of them will be the member of the Board for the UH's Mauna Kea project. Additional work of site testing is needed and so is the 28-inch telescope.
