Feral ungulates Invasive species Environmental policy Hawaii Island
Summary:
Feral ungulates, pigs, cattle, sheep, and goats, are described in state reports and plans as high-threat invasive species. But they are also being protected under the law as game mammals. This study reveals that Hawaii's invasive-animal policy and management plans do not support the ungulate control needed to protect Hawaii's native species and watersheds.
