Summary:
The authors developed a 30-meter-resolution map of aboveground carbon density on the million-hectare Hawaii Island with airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR)-based observations, satellite-based imagery, and field measurements. The estimated C sequestered in aboveground woody vegetation is 28.3 geragrams, 56% lower than Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates.
