- The authors report of the vascular wilt fungus Ceratocystis fimbriata that is killing mature ohia trees (Metrosideros polymorpha) in forests and residential areas of the Puna and Hilo districts of Hawaii Island. The affected trees turn yellowish (chlorotic) and then brownish within days to weeks.
