Site surveys Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) Mauna Kea
Summary:
Satellite data and on site study concerning water vapor confirmed that all five candidate sites are exceptionally good for astronomy research: the higher the elevation of the site, the drier it gets. The results show that winter and spring are the driest seasons at all sites, with Mauna Kea and Tolonchar having the lowest precipitable water vapor in the atmospheric column and highest atmospheric transmission in the near and mid-infrared bands.
