Dr. Kuiper described his recent conversation with Dr. Jefferies regarding Mauna Kea. Dr. Jefferies has hired Mr. Jones' firm for the design and construction of an 84-inch telescope. UH would set up an Advisory Panel which would review the design, and Dr. Kuiper was invited to be a member. Dr. Kuiper will attend the Governor's committee conference in Maui as arranged earlier when he anticipated that an agreement between the Univ. of Arizona and Univ. of Hawaii would be in effect by the time the conference takes place.
