- Regarding to the outcome of the discussions that took place on December 10 among Drs. Hiatt, Woollard, and Jefferies of UH, Dr. Menzel of Harvard, and Drs. Newell and Nicks of NASA. NASA's policy is to leave the Mauna Kea matter entirely to the University of Hawaii and the state. And Dr. Hiatt was not happy to have outside pressure upon the Mauna Kea issues. As a result, LPL is considering suspending the Mauna Kea operations until the issue could be resolved.
