Summary:
Tucson is currently the astronomy capital of the world, hosting the world's largest observatory - Kitt Peak National Observatory. The planned National New Technology Telescope could also be placed in Tucson. The article also described how astronomers observe nowadays - they no longer look through a telescope. Rather, they sit in front of television screens and the product of a nigh'ts work is stored in magnetic computer tapes. With photos of Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory atop Mr. Hopkins and the 158-inch Mayall telescope.
