Summary:
This report is a popular account of the general findings of the Mauna Kea Expedition of 1935. It is based on material gathered by all the members of the expedition and has been compiled and edited by the three authors. The introduction and section on geology are the work of Chester K. Wentworth. John Wesley Coulter prepared the text on Climate and Weather, Land Utilization, Soils, Archaeology and Forest Changes. The text on Botany and Zoology, with the exception of that on the larger feral animals, is by Constance E. Hartt. This report is based on observations made between July 30 and August 21, 1935. The Humuula base camp was occupied during this period by various members of the scientific party and the summit camp at Lake Waiau was occupied from August 6 to August 20.
