Summary:
Hawaii County Council on Jan. 23 passed resolutions of appreciation for Dr. Kuiper and Mr. Akiyama in discovering Mauna Kea as one of the best site for astronomical observations. Dr. Kuiper declared on July 20, 1964, "The mountaintop is probably the best site in the wolrd - I repeat - in the world, from which to study the moon, the planets and the stars." With photos of Dr. Kuiper and the summit of Mauna Kea.
