Life history
- Summary:
- Although nestling mass is predictive of offspring survival outside the nest, fledgling mass has rarely been considered in juvenile survival. The authors studied whether fledgling mass is related to juvenile survival for Hawaii Akepa, an endangered Hawaiian honeycreeper (Drepanidinae). The results showed that fledglings in the highest mass class had a juvenile survival rate that was more than double that of lower mass fledglings.
