Summary:
Hawaii's arthropod fauna has 5,735 native species to date. Over 97% of the native arthropod species are endemic to the Hawaii archipelago and 90% of these are insects. The alien arthropods are devastating to the isolated, less competitive endemic species. Ants and wasps are especially destructive on the native Hawaiian biota.
