Summary:
The Hawaiian silversword alliance, Compositae: Madiinae, is a classic example of adaptive radiation in an insular setting and consists of 28 species in three genera, the Dubautia, Argyroxiphium, and Wilkesia. This paper presents the results of an electrophoretic analysis of the Hawaiian Madiinae in order to examine the degree of genetic differentiation and the population-generic structure that is associated with adaptive radiation in this insular plant group.
