Summary:
A 3-dimensional model is presented to study the airflow and orographically-induced rain over steep topography for the Island of Hawaii. The Suarez and Arakawa as well as Arakawa and Lamb model simulates well in reproducing leeward eddies depicted in the somposite surface airflow patterns and rainfalls.
