Summary:
The diurnal variation of the winds was measured at Hilo airport from July 11 to August 25, 1965. A radar-tracked balloon's trajectory over windward slope of Hawaii Island was analyzied. The results indicate that the daytime winds near Hilo result from a simple superposition of sea breeze circulation and a barrier deflection flow.
