Ants ecology
- Summary:
- This document describes a variety of ants that have reached Hawaii throughout the years that have affected the ecological system such as the big-headed ant (Pheidole megacephala), the long-legged or yellow cozy ant (Anoplolepis gracilipes), the Argentine ant (Linepithema humile), a stinging ant (Solenopsis geminata), as well as the Solenopsis papuana, the little fire ant (Wasmannia auropunctata), the red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta). Of these the Wasmannia auropunctata and the Solenopsis invicta have likely posed a more serious threat to human quality-of-life than any or perhaps the entire suite of ants that have reached Hawaii.
