Summary:
In an effort to determine the potential for cryptic speciation of the Epiphanes senta, the morphology, mating behavior, and genetic divergence were examined of three populations: a tropical alpine lake, known as Lake Waiau, on the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii; temporary rock pools of the Chihuahuan Desert in Texas, USA, and the floodplain habitats of the Oder River in Germany. The author described the results obtained from crossmating experiments from among the populations in these areas.
