Summary:
The list in this document contains the results of measurements that were made in 1967 and 1968 where the samples were counted in the form of acetylene gas and the ages were computed on the basis of the Libby half-life of 5568 (plus or minus) 30 years. The commonly-used error listed is larger than the one-sigma statistical counting error. While it takes into account the known uncertainty of laboratory factors, it does not include external field or atmospheric variations. Samples were taken from various areas in Kentucky, as well as from Austria, British West Indies, the Caroline Islands, and from Lake Waiau in Hawaii. Unless otherwise stated, the collectors of this survey were members of the U.S. Geological Survey.
