Summary:
A dominant rain forest tree species in Hawaii that has long impressed botanists is known as the Ohia (Metrosideros polymorpha) as this tree is known for its morphological variability and ecological amplitude. While pubescent varieties of this tree are present on young volcanic substrates, it doesn't seem to occur in older soils that are located in the rain forest zone. As a result, this study was done in an effort to document the differences regarding the distribution of the ohia varieties that are found within the population of the ohia that grows on adjacent young and old flows.
