Summary:
High-precision Hf, Nd, and Pb isotopes were measured for 40 samples from the final stage of the Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project. (HSDP). Two contrasting groups stand out from all the Pb isotope data acquired for the HSDP core. One represents the Kea main eruptive sequence and the other is characterized by higher source Th/U and high (super 3)He/(super 4)He. Analysis of the flow regime within the plume conduit shows that temperature dependence of viscosity makes the conduit narrow and sharply bound.
