Summary:
Evaporation was measured from tropical rainforest to dry subalpine lava fields on Mauna Loa, on the island of Hawaii. Average daily evaporation decreased with elevation between sea-level and about 1200 meters, and then increased with elevation above that level. The Evaporation ranged from 1.9 millimeters to 6.1 millimeters along the transects on Mauna Loa.
