- The upper kilometer of the Hawaiian Scientific Drilling Program core consists of lavas that were arranged subaerially while burying paleosols. These paleosols were preserved with minimal alteration and were used to construct an approximately 330-kyr Quaternary climate record -- the objective of this study.
