Investigated in this report are bark alkaloids that are found in the Sophora chrysophylla Seem., (Leguminosae), an endemic plant that is the sole Hawaiian Sophora species. This bark contained alkaloids that were isolated during this study such as cytisine (1) matrine (3), and two new alkaloids that were named mamanine (4) and pohakuline (5) -- the subject of this report.
