Summary:
Evidence of ancient glaciers chiefly in the form of stony moraines, ice-scratched ledges, and boulders have been observed on Mauna Kea since 1909. In this document, the author describes in detail what is known as the Daly glacier, an ice cap that is thought to have stretched seven or eight miles across the summit flat south of the summit cones. Also described are other evidences of glaciers that once existed on Mauna Kea and volcanic eruptions that may have occurred prior to and/or following the period of glaciation on Mauna Kea.
