Mauna Kea volcano Streamflow
Summary:
In 1925 while flying to and from the Parker Ranch landing field at Waimea, the author reported that good observations were obtained of the entire eastern half of Mauna Kea. He noted that three stream channels extended well above the timber line nearby the summit of the mountain. These stream channels were thought to eventually control most of the drainage of the upper reaches of Mauna Kea. Observations of several cones pointed to the need for detailed investigation. One cone was partially surrounded by a black deposit whose nature could not be determined. It was also determined that the several points of interest on Mauna Kea can be fairly easily reached from existing trails.
