Summary:: This article describes the desecration of a wooden platform, (lele), on the summit of Mauna Kea, and a shrine, (ahu), on the grounds of the Iolani Palace. The vandalism of these sacred sites appeared to have been done deliberately and appeared to be due to people becoming uneasy about the Hawaiians embracing their spirituality.
