Summary:

In the Spring term of 2003, the Sociology 480 Practicum in Social Research class at the University of Hawaii at Hilo undertook a phone survey for the Office of Mauna Kea Management. This survey was designed to determine Hawaii Island residents' opinions about the management issues for the Mauna Kea Science Reserve. The results showed that most people favor some forms of restrictions and management of access to the summit to protect the resources.
