- Summary:
- This document describes skiing and sleding conditions that occur on Mauna Kea as well as the ways in which the ancient Hawaiians protected themselves from the wind and sharp lava rocks by using cloaks and sandals that were made from ti leaf as these conditions are often encountered when one climbs the slopes of Mauna Kea. Also included are photos of islanders who have enjoyed the novelty of true winter sports in the sub-tropical location of Hawaii.
