This document describes an Akiapolaau (Hemignathus wilsoni) cup-shaped nest that was under construction high up in an ohia tree and was wedged at the junction of small ohia branches that was located on the Hamakua side of the island of Hawaii. The author describes how the female was observed constructing the nest while a male was heard and seen near the nest area on several occasions.
