- Summary:
- This document lists plants that were collected by the Mauna Kea Expedition that was under the auspices of the Hawaiian Academy of Science from 6 - 20 August, 1935. The plants included bacteria, algae, fungi, lichens, liverworts, mosses, ferns, and spermatophytes that were taken from the alpine and subalpine zones on the southern and southeastern slopes of the 5,800 - 13,794 foot range on Mauna Kea. This document describes the number of species of mosses, ferns, and spermatophytes, that were collected and studied, and the areas from which they originated, if not endemic. Also mentioned, was a cosmopolitan fern called the Asplenium adiantum nigrum that was collected not only at a summit cone at the 13,500 foot level of Mauna Kea but was also collected from many lower altitudes.
