Summary:
Cinder cones on Mauna Kea volcano show both radial and arcuate alignments, indicating the existence of radial and arcuate fissures that acted as conduits along which the magma rose from depth. The arcuate alignment of vents appears to be the result of intersection of shallow-seated radial fissures with the arcuate intrusions at depth.
