This document describes the Psylla uncatoides that was first collected on Oahu in 1966, the large numbers that were reported to be present on the summit of Mauna Kea that is devoid of vegetation on the island of Hawaii, and how this insect has become a serious pest of the endemic Acacia koa grows in the higher and drier elevations in Hawaii. Here, details are given of studies on this insect's abundance and habits, and a close correlation between new terminal growth and population explosions are described.
