Curtis; Popular fallacies regarding the precious metal ore deposits, but A. Williams, Jr.; A review of the follis Ostreidae of North America, by Dr. C. A. White; A geological reconnaissance in Southern Oregon, by I. C. Russell. Specific mention is made of a memoire written by Capt. C. E. Dutton entitled Hawaiian volcanoes, that includes illustrations, maps, and an elaborate description of the volcanoes of the Hawaiian islands such as Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, the extinct volcano of Kohala and the lava fields of Hualalai. Reference is also made to the Zoological Record for 1884 that forms the twenty-first volume of the series.
