Summary:
A fundamental aspect of the Galapagos black rat feeding behavior is their ability to use a broad range of foods, both within and among different habitats. This dietary versatility has been documented for the Rattus rattus populations in parts of the world such as Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, and Eniwetok Atoll. In this paper, the composition of diets selected by the black rat populations over the Galapagos habitat spectrum is described with an analysis that was done regarding the relationships among diet composition, available foods, and reproduction.
