The Office of Admissions released three short videos this week sharing the message that the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is a supportive and inclusive academic community profoundly connected to its island home.
Myla Gumayagay, communications specialist at the admissions office says the video themes were chosen to reflect what makes UH Hilo distinctive, its diverse student body, hands-on academic approach, strong faculty connections, close-knit community, and deep connection to Hawaiʻi Island.
“Together, they highlight both the academic and personal experience students can expect,” says Gumayagay.
The three themes are “Connected to the Island,” “Close Knit Community and Sense of ʻOhana,” and “Diversity and Belonging.”
“Each theme represents a core part of the UH Hilo experience where students don’t just earn a degree, but find community, gain real-world skills, and develop a meaningful connection to place,” Gumayagay says.
