What you should be doing during a hurricane “watch” and “warning”

A hurricane watch is declared when there is a threat of possible hurricane conditions at any time within the next 36 hours.

A hurricane warning is declared when hurricane conditions are expected at any time within the next 24 hours.

  • Monitor Civil Defense updates
  • Stay indoors
  • Stay away from windows
  • Fill up containers with drinking water
  • Fill up sinks and bathtubs with storage water
  • Use telephone only for emergencies
