Brush Fire Hazards Mitigation

Hawaiʻi is quite vulnerable to brush fire during periods of prolonged drought and high winds. Most brush fires are directly caused by humans, often by negligence. They pose a tremendous risk because they occur in areas that include steep slopes and ridges where traditional fire fighting equipment cannot be used.

There are two approaches to mitigation. First, you can do things to protect your home against brushfires that head your way. Second, you can do your part to prevent brushfires from starting.
