The Lactation Room is located in Campus Center, room #310 and is available on work days from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The room is kept locked and use of it must be prearranged. To make reservations for the room or check available time slots, contact the Campus Center office during work hours at (808) 932-7365. The room has been provided in accordance with an amendment to Section 7(r) of the Fair Labor Standards Act: the Break Time for Nursing Mothers Provision, which was added as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Under the amendment, employers with 50 or more employees are required to provide a nursing mother with unpaid but reasonable break time to express breast milk for her child, from the infant’s birth to the baby’s first year of age.
