Puu Oo Vent, Hawaii
The lava fountains from the 1983 to 1986 phase of the eruption of Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii built a high cinder and spatter cone called Puu Oo (hill of the Oo bird). Later phases of the Puu Oo eruption generated more continuous lava flows from vents near Puu Oo, and the summit of the once-high cone partly collapsed into its crater and molten lava lake.
