ʻŌlelo No'eau

He ʻaloʻalo kuāua no kuahiwi.
One who endured the mountain showers.
Said of a brave person. (Pukui, #541)

3 Helpful Tips to Reduce Stress

1. Get organized!
Scheduling time for academics, social activities, and rest can help combat that overwhelming feeling. Effective time management improves academic performance and keeps you organized, which, in turn, can lower stress and anxiety.

2. Maintain a healthy sleep schedule!
Although it may be tempting to pull all-nighters to study for an upcoming exam, research shows that sleep deprivation lowers cognitive function and impairs mental health. Adequate sleep is essential for academic performance.

3. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Even before you feel like the stress has become too much to handle, reach out for help. UH Hilo has a variety of mental health and academic resources available to you. Click here for more information on Kilohana Tutoring Services!
