palu lāʻī
/ palu lā.ʻī /n.v., Ti-leaf relish, a term of derision for the people of Hawai'i, because at a feast for Kamehameha I on Oʻahu there was not enough food, and the late-comers were said to have had to lick the ti-leaf food wrappings.
