India rubber tree (Ficus elastica) of South Asia. In Hawaiʻi some specimens have had time in one hundred years to become medium-sized trees. From smooth, gray bark comes an elastic substance, caoutchouc, which is one-third the weight of the milky sap. (NEAL 312.)
