kamehaʻikana/ ka-.mehaʻi.kana /
n., A multitude of descendants; one of the names for the wondrous (kāmehaʻi) goddess Haumea, who presided over childbirth. She was thought to have borne numerous children to one husband, then to have gone to Kahiki, later returning as a young woman to bear numerous more children; she did this for many generations; hence her name is synonymous with prolificness.
