To mummify. The visceral organs were removed from the body cavity and perhaps also the brain and other such soft spots. The remaining flesh was salted and bathed in herbal concoctions including ʻuhaloa. The body thus treated was taken to a very dry place. The flesh mumified. (KILO.)
