Surf site, Kakaʻako, Oʻahu. Off the west end of Kakaʻako Waterfront Park. The park is built on a former landfill which, when it was active, was the home of many aggressive black flies that bit the surfers and fishermen. It was named in the early 1960s by Joe Kuala who worked nearby in the Inter-island Surf Shop. Flies was the closest surf site to the shop.
