WahiLocation, Hawaiʻi Place Names,

Island, Lāʻie, Oʻahu. Part of the Hawaiʻi State Sea-bird Sanctuary. One of five islets visible from Lāʻie Point that were created when the demigods Kana and Nīheu cut up the body of a moʻo, a legendary lizard, and threw the pieces into the sea. This islet is directly off the point. The hole in the island was a sea cave until 1946, when the tsunami of April 1 broke the back wall of the cave, creating the hole.
