Surf site, Kaʻalāwai, Oʻahu. The Littlejohn family has lived and surfed at Kaʻalāwai for many years. During the 1930s when Bill Littlejohn began surfing at Black Point at the east end of Kaʻalāwai Beach, he named the site Halemanō, “house [of the] shark,” for the numerous sharks that he saw there. Halemanō is now commonly mispronounced “Halemanu.” The surf site is off the public right-of-way on Kaikoʻo Place. Also known as Kaikoʻo.
