Haleʻiwa Aliʻi

WahiLocation, Hawaiʻi Place Names (2002),

Beach park (19.3 acres), Haleʻiwa, Oʻahu. On the south side of Anahulu Stream. Haleʻiwa Aliʻi Beach Park was named after the Country Keiki Aliʻi football team, a youth team coached by Herman Soares during the 1950s. The Country Keiki Aliʻi played the Town Keiki Aliʻi in the Shriner's Football League. Prior to the development of the beach park, the country team used a portion of the site as a practice field, and the community called it Aliʻi Park. In later years when the site was developed into a beach park, “Aliʻi’ was included in the name. Also known as Aliʻi Beach.

  • Literally, Haleʻiwa chiefs.
