The event will begin after the clock counts down. If you click on YouTube in the lower right corner of the video window, you should be able to chat with the Wailau hosts and others watching. Live chat shows up to the right of the video player. After the live stream ends, the event will be archived and viewers can replay the video here.

The first Wailau event premiered on February 14, 2021 at 2:00pm. Watch below:

Student hosts Kuʻuhiapo Jeong and Dayva Escobar along with our topic expert Dr. Ron Gordon from UH Hilo's Communication Department, hosted the first Wailau event. The stories were filmed on stage at UH Hilo's Performing Arts Center. Our hosts and storytellers joined us for live chat during the premiere.

We applaud our brave storytellers, sharing their stories of The Importance of Communication in Love:

  • Lee B. Dombroski: “For the Love of Gran”
  • Randy Hirokawa: “The Electric Guitar”
  • Rebecca Choi: “Speaking Love”
  • Jasmine Joao: “Friends I No Longer Talk To”
  • Jeff Baumgardner: “Hitting the Send Button”
